Andrew Goetz and I were invited to attend a panel discussion with Roberta (Robbie) Kaplan—the attorney that represented Edie Windsor in front of the Supreme Court to overturn DOMA. The event was hosted by JP Morgan’s Private Banking Division—a long time support of LGBT financial concerns. The panelists spoke to a group of 100 (we are 99 and 100) about the implications of the decision on taxes, wealth management, business and employment, marriage, health care, etc. It was an inspirational evening of law, taxes and personal stories—with a midtown view of Manhattan from the 50^th floor!—for MALIN+GOETZ to be included in support of equality!!!

Something I have been hearing a lot lately is how our crazy weather has been wreaking havoc on everyone’s skin!  This is of specific concern for those of us who live in areas with distinct seasons (like New York!)  Fall is a common time of year for break outs – even for those not usually prone to them. Breakouts increase during Autumn as the skin’s oil production adjusts from summer humidity to the cooler October air.  This can create layers of dead skin cell build-up (note: flaky, dry skin). The result is trapped oil and bacteria underneath the surface of the dry, dead skin, resulting in an increase in breakouts.

In April, our beloved English Bulldog of more than 15 years, died.  It was and is very sad.

About one week after his death, I was walking to my favorite neighborhood (Chelsea) coffee shop, Grumpy's , and ran into a neighbor and friend--the artist Barbara Sandler.  Barbara often walked her dogs while we were walking ours (Junior, our Frenchie, turned 14 on July 17th).  Barbara asked me about Bob and immediately offered to paint a portrait.
